Senator Panfilo Lacson on Friday asked Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde to re-open the reinvestigation of “Pampanga 13” case in order to prove his innocence.
Albayalde is being accused by former PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group chief and now Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong as the “protector” of 13 police officers who allegedly accepted bribes and recycled illegal drugs after a raid in a Pampanga safehouse in 2013.
The outgoing PNP chief has repeatedly denied the allegation and vowed to refile criminal and administrative cases against the erring officers.
“Ang pinakamagandang pruweba para maipakita nya na talagang hindi nya pino-protektaha sila Baloyo… bago sya magretiro, madaliin nya ‘yung pag-review ng kaso, pag-reinvestigate at bigyan nya ng karampatang parusa na katulad sa binigay na parusa sa original na decision na dismissal at tsaka may criminal case,” Lacson said in a radio interview.
Lacson admitted doubting Albayalde but acknowledged that suspicion is far different from truth backed up by evidence.
“Sa totoo lang… ako mismo nagkaroon ng konting pagdududa sa kanya although iba ‘yung duda, iba ‘yung ebidensya”, he said. “Sa ngayon hindi natin pwedeng akusahan na sya’y sangkot o nagtakip dito.”
